The Day After...

Well, If you are anything like The Sheep you are feeling the effects of too much food yesterday.

But the weather shook Them out of Their food coma and back out to the world of adventures.

Yesterday was cold and the ground was frozen, but there wasn't any white stuff on the ground. Not the case today. For a time snow was floating around like a snow globe, but then it turned to freezing rain. The Sheep got out to get some photos while the fluff was still coming down.

They promptly returned to warmth of home to wait until Their next adventure.

Thankful Sheep

This morning The Sheep were wandering around the neighborhood and taking in the sunrise and the fog in the distance. As They were walking They started thinking about all the things for which They are grateful... Family, Friends, Adventures, a warm place to sleep, enough to eat, etc.

The more They thought, the more They wondered... Who gets all this gratitude? Who are They thanking? Is gratitude worth the effort if no one receives it?

Some people want to thank "The Universe", some people want to thank "Mother Nature", and those are okay. But the more The Sheep thought the more They realized that those both fall short. When you break down the Latin for the word universe it literally translates to "One Word" Well, that begs the question, "Who spoke that word?" Mother Nature... that's a nice idea. Everyone needs a mother, but if everything is born from Mother Nature, who is the Father?

Hmmm, Father... That really got Them thinking. That reminded Them of something that They had heard before " Every good gift, every perfect gift, comes from above. These gifts come down from the Father, the creator of the heavenly lights, in whose character there is no change at all." A good Father, Whose character never changes - predictable, kind, mercifully, giving all of these good gifts. Now this is a good place to aim Their gratitude.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

Could These Sheep be artists or is this a crop circle of sorts?

Today The Sheep wanted to show me this ice sculpture.

This made me ask myself... "Can Sheep sculpt?" Or did They just stumble upon this amazing frozen creation? I guess we'll never know the truth?

Can Sheep donate blood?

Well, it turns out that The Sheep are not human. I know that is a shock to us all, but... there it is! The good news for The Sheep is that They CAN have snacks in the canteen while waiting for the ones who brought them.
At least Their hearts were in the right place!!

The Sheep go ice skating

Today The Sheep decided that the creek was frozen enough to skate on. They were right!

In some of the photos, it is hard to tell that The Sheep are standing on ice, but They are. If you look really closely you can see that the creek is still running under there. I guess it's a good thing that The Sheep don't weigh very much (yet?!)

The Sheep and The Moon and... Christmas?

Last night The Sheep were out like regular sheep would be. They looked up and The Moon was so big and bright that They decided you might want to see it too.
I guess it just looks like another light on the horizon, but... the big round one?? That's The Moon.

It put The Sheep in mind of Christmas and how Mary and Joseph followed the star in the east. Maybe it was a moon like this one, maybe not. It just got The Sheep to thinking. If it were as bright as this, it would have been easy to follow!

Merry Christmas, from The Sheep - a little early.

The Sheep and... The Doctor??

Today The Sheep were out and about and minding Their own business when the weather started to change and They were surprised to see what looked VERY much like the Tardis...

They weren't sure, what do you think?

Could The Doctor be in Spokane?

Home again, home again, jiggety jig - wait! That's about pigs....

The Sheep were very happy to arrive back in Spokane safe and sound! They will carry the memories from this adventure with Them for a long time!

But nothing beats being home! Even if there isn't anymore snow (right now).

The quest to find a church in Spokane

The Sheep have been looking for a church to call "home" since They arrived in Spokane. And frankly, They are starting to feel a little like "Goldie Locks". This one is too big, this one is too far away, this one is too new, blah, blah, blah. So it was really nice for Them to get to spend some time at the church they have called "home" for quite a while.

They had a great night and will file this one away to remember for a long time to come.

The Sheep got to connect with some old friends in the process of saying, "Bon Voyage" to one of them.

The Sheep were amazed at how many people knew Them when They went back to Lacey for a visit. They like to watch things from a distance, but this time They got a little closer.

I'm not sure The Sheep are crazy about crowds, I think They prefer the solitude of The Farm! They really did enjoy seeing everyone, though

Is there a 5th, but Lost Sheep??

The Sheep have heard a rumor of a possible 5th Sheep. So They stopped by Their old "stomping grounds" to have a look for Themselves.

They had a look in the Senior Pastor's office to not only see if They could find this rumored companion, but also to visit the places where They used to hide. They got very nostalgic!

There was no sign of A 5th Sheep, but that doesn't mean One isn't out there!

After a look around, They were ready for the next adventure!

This may be the biggest adventure yet!

The Sheep had the honor and privilege to fly back over the mountains to say "Bon Voyage" to a great friend who is embarking on a great adventure of her own!

They very much enjoyed their journey this time.  It was much faster and presumably warmer than their last Incredible Journey!

They even got a window seat!

Another encounter with The Owl!!

The Sheep went exploring around The Farm today. They were taking advantage of the warmish weather (it got up to about 47 today) and the dryish ground (it rained a little bit this morning). And while they were out the saw The Owl again. Upon some further research they decided that this is NOT a Barn Owl, but a Barred Owl. His face looks like the inside of a walnut. Therefore, The Sheep are calling him "Wally".

I apologize for this shaky video, but it's the best we could get. Wally is in the crux of the Walnut Tree on the right. If you look closely you can see him shaking (The Sheep think he was cold)

I made this photo as large as I could because if you look REALLY closely, you'll wee just over the horizon and just right of dead center, The Owl! He is flying over the valley below and The Sheep are watching him hunt, grateful that He is not after Them!!! I hope you are able to see Him, He is pretty far away!

The Sheep continued their exploring as the sun was setting. It sure seemed to go down fast!!!

It got to the point that The Sheep weren't even visible in the photo, but The Moon was out - in between clouds covering it.

All in all, it is a good night to be A Sheep!!!

The Sheep salute all of our Veterans! Thank you for your service!

Today The Sheep were surprised and disappointed to find that it was VERY difficult to find a Veteran's Day celebration that they could participate in. They ended up at the V.F.W. in the Spokane Valley where there was a dinner to celebrate the Vets.

The Sheep aren't really limber enough to salute, but They were saluting in Their hearts!!

Thank you to all who have served and are serving. The Sheep are VERY VERY grateful for the freedoms that you have won for Them - and us all!

Happy Veteran's Day!

Since the snow melted, The Sheep decided to explore Spokane!

Today The Sheep headed over the Riverside State Park. More specifically they visited a place called "The Bowl and Pitcher". Back in the day people called this rock formation (on the left) "The devil's teapot", but today we call it "The Pitcher"  It may be difficult to make out, but it is the rock in the distance with a flat top.

Back in 1889 a man named Aubrey L. White convinced the State to preserve this landscape by creating a park around it. It took a lot of time and effort, but it became a State Park in 1933.

Now, a little more difficult to discern is "The Bowl". (There are fallen trees in front of it).

Here is a shot from above, maybe you'll be able to see it better.

It's still hard to tell, but there is a "Bowl" formation in front of those large rocks. The current goes in there and swirls around before it continues on its journey down stream.

In 1933 the Civilian Conservation Corp built this bridge. They built it offsite and then disassembled it and brought it in three pieces to reassemble it over the river.

The Sheep were not entirely convinced that this is the same bridge, I mean, it's made out of wood. They were sure that pieces have been replaced over the years.
The Sheep were pretty jumpy walking over this hanging bridge that swayed in the wind. They weren't certain that they'd want to try it in the spring when the water level is much closer, but we'll see.

The Sheep are really learning a lot about Their new hometown and its rich history!

The Sheep voted, did you?

The Sheep feel very strongly about Their civic duty and therefore made sure to read Their voter pamphlet thoroughly and get Their ballot turned in on time!

The only problem is that when They got done, Their brains were tired!

Why, They wonder, does voting have to be so complicated?!?!

Whatever the calendar says, The Sheep are certain it's Winter!

The Sheep woke up this morning at about sunrise to snow. Now it wasn't heavy, but
it was snow none the less.

Then about sunset it started to hail. Now it is snowing again.

The Sheep are pretty savvy about the equinox, but They decided to call this Winter. They were sure glad today was Sunday so they could take a day of rest and enjoy the white stuff.

Well, what are The Sheep to do with a bowl full of candy and no Trick-or-Treaters? You guessed it, They ate it all! Now they are out of their costumes and sporting a "candy hangover". They had planned to make Grape Jelly later today, we'll have to see if they are up to it.
